We believe this flexibility is needed to align with new policy amendments finalized by SAMHSA for initiation of treatment with methadone at 8.12(f)(2)(v)(A), and it would help reduce barriers for many individuals ( beginning treatment with methadone who often experience at least one barrier to accessing treatment (for example, reliable transportation, work schedule conflicts, distance to treatment, etc.)
