Winston was a product of the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, the firm Richard Joshua Reynolds founded after settling in Winston, North Carolina in the 1870s and formally incorporated in 1899. That house gave America Prince Albert pipe tobacco in the 1900s and the Camel cigarette in 1913, and in 1954 it introduced Winston a filter brand named for the companys own hometown of Winston-Salem. Winston grew into one of the best-selling cigarettes in the country behind the famous slogan Winston tastes good like a cigarette should, and its cultural footprint ran deep: Winston was an original primetime sponsor of The Flintstones from 1960 to 1962 Fred and Barney pitching the brand in animation and from 1971 to 2003 it was the title sponsor of NASCARs premier series, the Winston Cup. This counter display comes from the middle of that run, in 1974, and it measures approximately 11.25 x 8.75 inches (11 x 8 in)
