Maple Leaf designed a barrel where the tip is wider compared to the rest. At the end of the barrel, the air will pass around the BB and exit first, and when the BB leaves, the airflow pulls the BB in what is called a jet stream effect. This creates less resistance on the BB and will NOT reduce velocity, but instead increase accuracy!
