刘宾雁中国当代著名作家、记者。1925年元宵节生于黑龙江省哈尔滨市。早年受俄罗斯文学人道主义思想影响，追求社会正义，投身于中共革命。中共建政前后开始怀疑革命之残酷血腥。1956年发表《在桥梁工地上》、《本报内部消息》，首开中国暴露文学之先河，引起巨大社会反响。旋即遭政治整肃，打成“右派”，遣送乡村劳动改造。1976年获“改正”复出，写作了大量尖锐揭露社会黑暗的文学作品。其中《第二种忠诚》、《人妖之间》等，成为那一时代中国纪实文学的经典之作。刘宾雁也因此成为家喻户晓的中国作家，被誉为“中国的良心”。1978年初，经邓小平钦点，再次被清除出党，全国公开羞辱。后到美国讲学，又因公开抗议武装镇压天安门民主运动而被禁止返国，开始海外流亡生涯。2003年，被美国《时代》周刊评选为“亚洲英雄”，并称为“无所畏惧”、“不可腐蚀”的中国的良心。刘宾雁以年迈之身，流亡海外18年，坚守信念，决不向黑暗势力低头，于2005年初不幸病逝，终年80岁。在艰难时世中，刘宾雁以其道德文章，成为中国知识份子的光辉榜样。
